New Motorola RAZR Flip Phone Review

Time goes by faster than a horse racing in the Kentucky Derby races; we don’t realize how fast the technology around us has evolved when it’s part of our daily lives. We are animals of addictions; we live impregnated with routines and socialize with electronic devices daily. It has been a routine for the past decades.

The mobile phone is a clear example of the extension of our body that we adopt. We can leave the house without the right coat outside, forget the car keys, but not our phone. It is always in our pocket. More precisely, for 31 years it has evolved in an overwhelming way.

The Motorola RAZR was previously rumored, and Motorola even came up with some early plans for the smartphone. Thus, the new smartphone with folding screen was officially released and brought several interesting features!

Motorola has created a different concept from the competition in the folding screen smartphone segment, and we will now see the market, seeking adoption on this type of device.

We all remember the Motorola RAZR V3 that dominated the market about fifteen years ago. This mobile phone stood out for its bold and unique design at the time. Being one of the bestselling terminals ever, it will be forever in the history of the mythical manufacturer.

It was born in 2004 by Motorola and has since became a true icon of the American brand. During its lifetime, the phone sold over 130 million units… And now has a successor, the 2019 RAZR folding screen Motorola!

Lenovo manufacturer introduced this equipment this month. It stands out above all for its folding screen and the unusual way Motorola has applied it. Unlike the competition, which all use a smartphone that doubles as a book, RAZR draws inspiration from the RAZR V3 and its mechanism is identical to that of a standard flip phone.

Unlike folding smartphones from rivals Samsung and Huawei, RAZR opens vertically, a feature that has been celebrated long before the official announcement by leaking enthusiasts.

In this smartphone, as in the classic, we will find two screens: a 2.7 ″ OLED and the 6.2 ″ folding main screen with P-OLED technology.

The focus is on the design and concept itself, but being in the current market, it has to offer a good experience to those who buy it. Therefore, the manufacturer equipped the RAZR phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

It obviously runs the Android operating system, in this case it’s the 9 Pie version, and has two cameras: a 16 MP rear (f / 1.7, 1.22um) and a 5 MP front camera (f / 2.0, 1.12um). The battery is a 2 510 mAh, supporting even 15 W fast charging.

The estimated price of the Motorola RAZR is $ 1 500, about 1 350 €. It will begin marketing in the US as early as next month, while there is still no information on its availability in Europe.

It’s still a bit expensive for the smartphone market and quite dangerous since a lot of people don’t want to take the risk on a new trend design. On top of that, all brands like Samsung and iPhone continue bombarding new technologies and new handsets.

The concept of folding phone is proving to be one of the next trends in the smartphone universe. Samsung already has the Galaxy Fold and Huawei has also introduced the Mate X, two smartphones that opened the segment for consumers in fact. Will the trend continue and prevail? Should the Motorola RAZR be compared to those flagship devices?
